Where It All Began
The AttackAgainstAsthma initiative had a humble beginning. It was initiated by Temitope Enoch Omosebi with his personal funds in September 2023 by donating only a total of 40 inhalers to the University of Ibadan. Temitope was passionately moved to create the initiative by the increasing outcries of asthmatic Nigerians about the unbearable prices of inhalers, caused by inflation, on social media platforms.
The initiative gained publicity after the campaign at the University of Ibadan in September, 2023. Later in March 2024, Temitope procured 22 inhalers using personal funds and advertised for sponsors. Sponsorship from friends enabled the initiative to donate a total of 65 inhalers at the University of Ibadan again. After this, the initiative gained international recognition through a report by an Al-Jazeera journalist. This became the starting point for greater things. The initiative is now expanding across universities and socioeconomically marginalized groups in Nigeria.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of healthcare for asthmatics, especially students, socioeconomically marginalised groups in Nigeria. We seek to improve access to asthma care medication and self-information to everyone living with asthma.
Our Vision
We are built on the 3rd Sustainable Development Goal Of Unitec Nations; Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all age. We focus specifically on Target 3.4 by 2030 , reduce by the one-third premature mortality from noncommunicable diseases through prevention and treatment, and promote mental health and well-being. Hence, our vision is to significantly reduce mortality rate of asthma and notably improve quality of life asthmatics, starting in Nigeria
